This EP is Yam in electroacoustic mood. Ive spent a long time combining acoustic and electronic elements, sampling, resampling, bending traditional strung and plucked instruments with NI Reaktor granular sampling ensembles. For a long while what defined Yam releases was working only with prepared piano, environmental field recordings programmed into NI Reaktor, ensembles. The emsembles i made in Reaktor still feature in most of my tracks to this day, adding to and changing the sample sets for whatever instruments i am playing with.

Citizens and Officers walks those same paths, except with autoharp, guitars and other small acoustic instruments. The same use of non musical found sounds fed into Reaktor ensembles continue to colour the Yam sound and, as always, a prepared piano can be found hiding in plain sight.

The synths have been left unplugged, and the strings brought to ring out into the digital realm, beaten and stretched into new and not so new shapes.
